Mike Sadula: Mike is one of our most qualified leader and has been walking with us for about three years now. He won "Walk of the Year" in his first year of leading. He is an experienced walker, climber and fell-runner and has his ML certificate. His greatest achievement is doing the Bob Graham round and we are all in awe of his stamina and determination. He is trying to build a business of leading challenge walks - his advert is on the Home Page. For the past couple of years he has tended to organise the weekends away. |

Rosemary Ryan: Rosemary has been walking with us for several years and has been on all the holidays with the group. She has a wealth of walking experience and decided to branch out into leading walks herself and has now been leading walks for several years. |

Keith PICKUP: Founder member and original Footpath Secretary, Keith has moved out of the Rossendale area. He does however continue to lead our walks and is extremely popular. His speciality is the first walk of the new year and this year was no exception. Has competed several times in the Great Outdoors Challenge a 200 mile Scottish Coast-to-Coast walk. Richard SUMNER: Arguably the most popular leader, Richard won the 'Best Walk' certificate two years on the trot before having his crown snatched from him. Richard's enthusiasm and experience touch us all and his walks are among the most original and challenging. He has organised holidays in Scotland and Ireland for the group over the last few years. Richard retired from his job as a postman a few years ago and seems never to have been away from Scotland where he climbs G Tops (don't ask). (Phone 01706 823764) |

Ian & GretchenTATTERSALL: Ian has now been leading walks for several seasons now and must be the busiest leader in that he tends to go out on occasions when no walk has been organised and always collects a following. He joined the Rossendale Ramblers some years ago and volunteered (?) to be chairman in November 1999. Ian is an experienced walker with a good repertoire of jokes and an even better gift when it comes to repairing cars; unfortunately he decided to retire as a mechanic. Like Gretchen he has a cool head in an emergency and there's a prize for any one who can make him lose his cool! He and Gretchen were married in June 2002, having met through the Rossendale Ramblers. Bertha & Jim Rostron: Our most experienced leaders and referred to as our 'Royal Family'. These two have done it all and have got the T-shirt for it. Both have been more regular leaders in the past but now restrict their input to the annual 'Good Friday Walk'. They also regularly present the slide-show at the AGM, amazing the membership with their exploits. As well as mountaineering, Jim and Bertha are very keen birdwatchers and spend much of their time in various parts of the UK observing our feathered friends. |

Peter Aizlewood: Peter is settling in nicely and after being 'dragooned' into leading quite suddenly, he rose to the challenge immediately and then went on to win the 'Walk of the Year' certificate. Peter has spent a great many years in Canada and has come to the Rossendale after taking early retirement. Since joining the group he has taken on the job of Hon. Sec. and is well suited to the position. (Phone 01706 215085) |

Derek Tate: Derek is a new member of our walking group having only recently moved to Rawtenstall. He is an experienced walker who has organised and led a number of walks for other groups. These have included Hadrian’s Wall, the Wolds Way and the Three Yorkshire Peaks. His partner reckons he has a fair pair of legs and looks good in shorts. His only down side seems to be that he hails from Yorkshire but at least he's had the sense to cross the border to the better side of the Pennines. He is a busy leader and has brought in Wednesday Walks - see Walks Calendar |

Jaquie Melia: Jaquie is Derek's partner and the person who feels he has a fair pair of legs. She is not one who loves the long, hard walks but likes shorter, easier ones. She has volunteered to lead one of the 'B' walks this year |

Chris Pickersgill: Chris is another, relatively new member who has walked with us for a year or more. He has enjoyed our walks and is keen to give something back to the group. He has enjoyed some of the camping weekends and will be leading a camp himself in 2006. |
Adam Brockbank: Adam found us on the website and has now been walking with us for a couple of years. He is an experienced walker and feels that branching out into leadership is the next step. He has a good list of interesting walks for 2007. (Phone:07980 504879) |

Trevor Gillett: Trevor is relatively new to the group but he and his partner Vinnie (and their two Jack Russells, Duke and Bryn) are keen and regular walkers and this year he has decided to branch out into leading walks. |

Sheila Goggins: Sheila is the Hon Treasurer of the group and has walked with us for many years. She has been a leader in the past and has volunteered to lead again in the year ahead. |

Dougie Morris: Dougie has been a stalwart of the group for many years and also serves on the committee. He has some exciting walks to offer for 2007 all of which have unusual titles. A very experienced walker, Dougie has done most of the long distance trails and has also done the famous '100' walks from the LDWA. He is a retained Countryside Ranger and spends a considerable amount of time keeping the countryside open for walkers. |
