Fourteen of us arrived at Clapham expecting a showery day, to our surprise we had a lovely day, no rain to be seen.
We left Clapham through the tunnels and east along Thwaite Lane, Arnold very kindly researched the tunnels, check them out here We then crossed a stile and headed north up to the Norber Erratics sandstone boulders, which were deposited during the last ice age.
Here was a good stop for elevenses, before crossing another stile and contouring round Thwaite scars. We then joined a bridleway up from Crummack farm, on our way stopping to admire the limestone pavement at Theives Moss, before we reached Sulber Nick, we then went east along Sulber Nick with fantastic views over Ribblesdale and Pen y Ghent.
Lunch was taken before headed south following the grouse butts then down the track from Moughton Scars down to Wharfe, a quiet little place, by now the walk had turned into a nature walk, lots of plants to admire and wild fruit to sample, even watching butterflies mating!!!!!!!!!
From Wharfe we went down the lanes to join the road at Siloth House, after a short distance we rejoined Thwaite Lane and headed west back to Clapham, where, as usual we had afternoon tea in the cafe.
